This rare historical print captures George Bush, head-and-shoulders portrait, three-quarters to the right, with spectacles in remarkable detail. Sourced directly from the Library of Congress, it represents an authentic piece of documented history.
Library of Congress record: Created between 1844 and 1859 Identification from engraving by H.W. Smith on frontispiece of Memoirs and reminiscences of the late Prof. George Bush, edited by Woodbury M. Fernald, 1860. Image in engraving is similar, but not identical to the daguerreotype and is not labelled as a Brady image. In documentation that came with the daguerreotype it was identified as Elisha H. Allen of Ohio (cat. 5) but this identification seems less likely. Scratched on back of plate: 293. Transfer; U.S. War College; 1920; (DLC/PP-1920:46153). Daguerreotype collection (Library of Congress). Produced by Mathew Brady's studio. Portrait photographs 1840-1860.Daguerreotypes 1840-1860.
The framed print arrives ready to hang; the unframed option suits custom framing. A conversation-starting piece for home, office, or as a meaningful gift. Free shipping on all US orders (domestic 48 states). Snapshots of the Past, founded
