Library of Congress record: Created between 1937 and ca 1938 10053B. Caption: Alexander Hamilton was the Negro who disclosed to the whites of Eufaula the riot planned by misled and ignorant Negroes. In appreciation of his loyalty the citizens gave him the house pictured above, and there Alexander lived and tended his farm until his death. Portraits of African American ex-slaves from the U.S. Works Progress Administration, Federal Writers' Project slave narratives collections. Gelatin silver prints 1930-1940.
