In 1924, she applied for a $2,500 prize offered by the Scientific American" to any medium who could establish authentic communication with spirits under strictly controlled test conditions. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle was her great champion; Houdini Houdini provided the box shown here by which Mina Crandon's suspected manipulations were to be contained.".
