Bequest and gift; Caroline and Erwin Swann; 1974; (DLC/PP-1974:232.52) Napoleon was arrested after a second failed coup d'etat at Boulogne in 1840 and was sentenced to life imprisonment at the fortress of Ham. Dr. Conneau was among those arrested with Napoleon at Boulogne and the man in uniform is probably Napoleon's valet Charles Thelin who was reported to be in attendance at Ham.
