Inscribed on verso upper left: An artists scraps. Inscribed on verso center: The view from Dr. Starke's Plantation, the negro cabins, James River, the gunboat. Inscribed on verso lower left: Cutting pine for shades and to adorn tents, & etc. Gift, J.P.
