City Aug. 14 1822; was Professor of Biblical Literature at Troy University in 1858-61 and became Professor of Exegetical Theology at Drew Theolotical Seminary in 1868. The principal work of his life was the Cyclopedia of Biblical Theological and Ecclesiastical Literature (10 vols. 1867-1881; 2 supplemental vols. 1885-1887). Died in Round Lakes N.Y. Aug. 7 1894.
