Caption from caption list: Former Sergeant Willie Sandlin of Hyden Ky. who has been appointed by Secty. Baker, a special escort for the return of our soldier dead from overseas. Sandlin was appointed on recommendation of Maj. Gen. Rogers because of his unusual record in the world war. He is said to rank second only to Sergeant York in his exploits against the enemy.
