Bequest and gift; Caroline and Erwin Swann; 1974; (DLC/PP-1974:232.779) Hess refers to the showmanship style of modern political campaigning in the painting, which served as an illustration for the cover article, The Coming Nixon Victory" which asserts that Nixon will prevail in the 1972 election with a broad base of support that includes not only the Republican party
