General information about the Harris & Ewing Collection is available at Wife of Secretary of State first to enroll in Red Cross for 1939. Washington, D.C., Sept. 26. To Mrs.Cordell Hull, wife of the Secretary of State, went the honor today of becoming the first official Red Cross member in the nation during the roll call for 1939. Her membership was immediately flown to roll call headquarters by an army signal corps carrier pigeon. Secretary of War Harry H. Woodring is pictured enrolling Mrs. Hull while on the left.
